April 11, 2016 – The 606 Honored for Excellence in Design, Arts, Engineering
Since the opening of The 606 park and trail system to the public in 2015, the project and its lead partners – the City of Chicago, the Chicago Park District, and The Trust for Public Land – have been recognized for innovation and excellence in the decade-long planning, design and construction process.
“On behalf of all of our public, community and private partners and supporters, we deeply appreciate and are humbled by the awards that The 606 has received,” said Beth White, Chicago Region Director for The Trust and project manager. “Most of all, we are gratified at the response The 606 has received from the countless members of the public who use the park and trail system every day.”

- March of Dimes of Illinois: Transportation Award (2016)
- Metropolitan Planning Council: Burnham Award for Excellence in Planning (2015)
- Friends of the Parks: Beth White honored at 40th anniversary celebration for contributions to the creation of The 606 (2015)
- Illinois Association of Park Districts: Award for Best Intergovernmental Cooperation (2015)
- Arts Alliance Illinois: Helen Doria Arts in the Park Award (2015)
