The Bloomingdale Trail Run

The first-ever timed run on The Bloomingdale Trail kicks off a day of festivities at The 606. Register now to be a part of history and to contribute to future public programming on The Bloomingdale Trail and at The 606.

The Bloomingdale Trail Run

The run is a timed event that goes through the heart of The 606. Runners will leave from Walsh Park (1722 N. Ashland) and finish at the western trailhead at Ridgeway Avenue (3700 West) near the McCormick YMCA. Total distance is 4.3 kilometers or 2.7 miles. The trail will be closed to all other users while the run is being conducted.

At the conclusion of the race, participants are encouraged to make their way to The 606 Block Party on Humboldt Boulevard for a Pancake Breakfast and to enjoy the day’s festivities.

Family Fun Walk

At approximately 9:45, after the last wave of runners passes Damen Avenue, a Family Fun Walk will start at Churchill Park (1800 N. Damen Ave.) and will conclude at The 606 Block Party and the Pancake Breakfast. Participation is free, but there is a charge for the breakfast. Families are encouraged to dress colorfully and bring their pets, strollers, scooters and wagons. Sorry, but bicycles will not be allowed. During the Fun Walk, the trail will be closed to all other users. Total distance from Churchill to The 606 Block Party is approximately 1-½ miles.

Race Logistics

Pre-Race Festivities & Day-of Registration – Walsh Park, 1722 N. Ashland

The first wave of runners will step off at 9:00 am, followed by waves of 100 runners stepping off every 2 minutes. The final wave will depart at approximately 9:30am.

Waves 1-3 will be reserved for competitive runners (8 minute pace per mile or less), waves 4-10 will be reserved for recreational runners (9-11 minute pace per mile or less), and the remaining waves will be reserved for casual runners (11 minute pace per mile or more).

The race is 4.3 kilometers or 2.7 miles point to point.

Entry Fees

Bloomingdale Trail Run including Pancake Breakfast: $45 for 1st 800 runners, $50 thereafter.

Bloomingdale Trail Run Only: $35 for 1st 800 runners, $40 thereafter.

All race participants will receive an event t-shirt.

Family Fun Walk – FREE

Pancake Breakfast Only – Adults $15, Kids $8

Pancake Breakfast includes 2 Pancakes, Bacon or Sausage, Juice or Coffee, PLUS specialty items from local restaurants. Kids Breakfast is ½ Portion.

*All entry fees are non-refundable, and may not be deferred toward a future event. Registration closure is determined and announced when event participation reaches the established participant capacity.

Directions & Parking

Starting Point
Walsh Park, the starting point for the race, is officially located at 1722 North Ashland (1600 West), but can also be accessed a block west at 1811 N. Marshfield. Street parking at this location is extremely limited. CTA options include the #9 Ashland bus, the #72 North Avenue bus, and the #73 Armitage bus. The Clybourn Avenue Metra stop on the Union Pacific North and Northwest lines is two blocks away.

Finishing Point
The Ridgeway Trailhead, the finishing point for the race, is at approximately 1812 North Ridgeway. However, on the day of the race, that section of Ridgeway will be closed to automobile traffic. The nearest drop-off point is the intersection of Ridgeway (3750 West) and Cortland (1900 North). Limited street parking will be available a block west of Ridgeway on Hamlin. Public transportation options include the #72 North Avenue bus, the #73 Armitage bus and the #53 Pulaski bus. (Please note that Ridgeway and Hamlin dead-end at 1800 North, and can only be approached from the north. If using the #72 North Avenue bus, use the Lawndale stop.)

Post-race Celebration
The 606 Block Party, the site for the post-race celebration, will take place on Humboldt Boulevard (3000 West) between Cortland (1900 North) and Wabansia (1700 North), and is approximately 1 mile east of The Ridgeway Trailhead. The Boulevard will be closed to traffic for the event, and street parking in the neighborhood will be limited. Public transportation options include the #72 North Avenue bus, the #73 Armitage bus. The California stop on the CTA Blue Line is about ¾ of a mile away. Bicycle valet parking will be available at The 606 Block Party.

Awards/Age Categories

Awards will be given to the top three male and female participants in each of the following age categories:

14 & under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-70, 70+

Awards will be given at the Pancake Breakfast on Humboldt Blvd. between 11am and 12pm

Timing

The Bloomingdale Trail Run will be officially timed using ChronoTrack B-Tags on participant bibs. Participants are responsible for the proper application of their assigned timing device. Instructions on proper application of the timing device are provided in the participant packet. Official times for participants will be the electronic timing device time (net time) from when the participant crosses the start line to when the participant crosses the finish line. Participants must wear their assigned timing device continuously to receive an accurate finish time.

Participant event number bibs and timing devices are specific personal identifiers and may not be exchanged with or transferred/sold to any other person. Sale, trade and/or transfer of race entry/bibs and timing devices are strictly prohibited and will result in the disqualification and/or banning of any individuals involved from future events.

Sunday, June 17 at McCormick YMCA, 1834 N. Lawndale from 10am- 2pm

Friday, June 22nd at Ipsento Coffee, 1813 N. Milwaukee Avenue from 4 – 8pm

Onsite Registration

Event Registration may be available at Walsh Park on race day beginning at 8am.

What To Bring

Bring cash if you wish to purchase additional food & beverage at The 606 Block Party.

Gear Check

Gear check will be available for participants at Walsh Park. Gear pick-up will be available after 10am at the Pancake Breakfast/The 606 Block Party on Humboldt Blvd. Approved gear check bags will be provided at packet pick-up or gear drop off. No backpacks, bikes, suitcases, etc.

Aid Stations

One aid station will be located on the course. Medical volunteers will be available at the finish for additional assistance.

Food/Beverage

Water will be available at the start and finish of the race. Participants will receive snacks and sport drinks at the finish line. Participants are encouraged to make their way to The 606 Block Party on Humboldt Boulevard for the Pancake Breakfast following the race. Additional concessions including beer and food trucks are available at The 606 Block Party.

Charity

Proceeds from the race supports ongoing public programming at The 606.
